The update contains a false positive which identifies "svchost.exe" as a "W32/Wecorl.a" virus. According to the University of Michigan tech support message the update affected roughly 800 000 PCs worldwide running Windows XP SP3, which were set to automatically receive an update. Some have initially interpreted their computer problems as a result of a virus attack.
